Troubleshooting Common Arcadia UVB Problems
Troubleshooting Your New T5 UVB Lamp
We want your new UVB lamp to work perfectly! If your lamp isn’t turning on right out of the box, don’t worry — most of the time it’s caused by a simple setup step that’s easy to fix. Please walk through the following checks before contacting us. If your lamp still doesn’t work afterward, we’ll make sure you’re taken care of.
Step 1: Check the Power Cord Connection
- Each fixture ships with a white instructional sticker that wraps over the side of the lamp, covering the power socket.
- The power outlet for the cord is located underneath this sticker.
- Before plugging the cord in, carefully read the instructions on the sticker, then peel it back or remove it completely.
- Once removed, firmly insert the power cord into the outlet.
Step 2: Make Sure the Bulb is Fully Seated
- The most common cause of a “dead” lamp is that the bulb isn’t turned all the way into place.
- T5 bulbs need to be twisted firmly until they lock in.
- You may feel a little resistance at the end — this is normal and keeps the bulb secure.
- Don’t worry, the bulb is designed to handle that slight pressure.
The First Photo on the left is of a Fully Seated Bulb, you can see here how the black circle where the pins are inserted is turned a full 90 degrees, and is fully clicked into place. In the second photo you can see that the black circle is not turned the full 90 degrees, and is not seated in position. The bulb in the second photo will not function until it is rotated more. If you reach out with a defect please get a photo of that replicates the below photos and shows us exactly how the pins are oriented in the fixture! Thank You. If bulb is fully seated move on to step three.
Step 3: Verify the Outlet
- Make sure you are plugging the lamp into a working outlet.
- Avoid timers, switched power strips, or surge protectors until you know the lamp works.
- Test the outlet with another device (like a phone charger or small lamp) to confirm it has power.
Step 4: Test Again
- After confirming the above steps, plug the lamp in and turn it on.
- If it still doesn’t power on:
- Take clear photos of both ends of the bulb (showing how it is seated like the above photos) and the cord connections on both ends.
- Send the photos to us along with your order number, and we’ll review right away.
Important Note
These three issues — the white instructional sticker covering the power socket, bulb not fully seated, and faulty/timed outlets — account for most cases where a new lamp won’t power on.
If your lamp is still not working after checking these steps, it may be defective. Don’t worry — once we verify the troubleshooting steps have been completed, we will promptly replace it.
